Kevin felt energized enough to venture out to Red Lobster with Ryan, Jen, Mira, and I for his birthday feast on Monday evening. Unfortunately Dick had to work—someone has to bring home the bacon! Back at the house later, Kevin had a Happy Birthday serenade via a phone message from his aunt. Thanks, Deb, it brought a huge chuckle! After that, “Super Hero Mira” kept everyone entertained. Ryan said it best in the comments he posted with his pictures of the evening:
Mira brought her cape to ensure the birthday’s ‘super status’. After dining out, we relaxed and got silly with Mira’s imagination.
Kevin is slowly shedding the chemo taste and smell—a metallic sensation that emanates from inside your body and permeates everything. Hopefully it will be totally gone soon so the appetite buds will start to flourish! Energy is coming back in baby steps, but that is better then no steps at all. It is all sunshine and roses from here!!
Happy Birthday Kevin. Thank you both for having us! We thoroughly enjoyed spending an evening of seafood, ice cream cake, (hmm…doesn’t sound like they go together…maybe your taste buds weren’t ready for that combo)and laughter with Mira’s imagination. Let’s all hope we don’t have to get into that old cat scan machine at your house!!
