Sid is pretty swanky already — living at the Manfort, sporting his Fez cap at parties, and consistently getting free rubs from all the girls. But, this delightful online shop has even better accouterments for making Sid as swanky as possible. Clearly he needs these:

Sid has a new favorite show. Nature’s Dogs That Changed the World was on PBS Sunday night. Sid and I watched it together.

It was all Sid could do to contain himself — alternating between yips, whines, barks, jumping at the screen, sticking his face against the TV, etc… Clearly sensory overload. I think he nearly had a seizure watching all the various puppies yipping and running on the little screen. And then after starting the show upstairs, we moved downstairs for the full experience on the 42 inch, which made Sid run all over the place looking for where all the TV dogs were going to behind the screen.

Next week is the second part in which we learn how all the various breeds and diversity of dogs came about. Sid and I will keep our eyes peeled for pugs. Or I will anyway, Sid will probably be convulsing on the floor between jumps and barks.

Sid's Birthday

Sid just turned 2 years old. We celebrated with “ham cake” which is his favorite treat. Afterwards, I played a few songs on the piano for him (he likes to listen and sits calmly next to me every time I sit at the piano). Then we shared lots of extra puggle-snuggles before bedtime.

My friend brought over treats for Sid not long ago in the form of Frosty Treats. And Sid loves ‘em. They might just be better than ham and/or meatballs.

Tonight I was gone for a while, so to compensate, I gave him another one (now there’s only one left). It took roughly 8 minutes for him to lick his way through it. Slurp, slurp, slup, slurp, slup, slup, slurp… And now he gets that “full attention” look every time I go near the freezer door. As in: “I can haz Frosty Paw?”

Snoring Sid wakes the dead (or at least me)

I’m sure we all know that pugs snort, grunt, and snore. But Sid is actually pretty quiet in comparison to his mates. You see he had a little nip and tuck operation when he lost his boys. Thus opening his airways a bit and helping him breathe better.

But sometimes he’s loud as hell anyway. Last night certainly qualified — maybe it was the heat. I must’ve woke up at least 4 times to the sound of “snorRRRRRR… snorrrrRRRRR…” In which case it was a sharp smack on the wall to wake the poor little guy up and then hope I fell back asleep first. But of course, that plan never works. The snorer always manages to nod off before the victim.

While Sid snored away straight through to morning, I captured a bit of it with the voice recorder in my phone. Just so you can enjoy it to. :) Listen below…

What Sid does in the office all day.

When I go to the office in the morning, Sid goes to his “office”. And in the office, he has his collection of toys (or chompables) that normally keep him busy. It’s hard work chomping all those things beyond recognition. Obviously this time he had a different agenda. Apparently the Ikea Pug Bed (PAX THUBLÅD in Ikea speak) needed a few alterations.

Damn it.

Now Sid needs a new bed and certainly has his daily intake of fiber. Fiberfill that is.

One of Sid’s favorite treats is when I open the front window so he can bark at everything that goes by. Pedestrian, car, bus, squirrel — it doesn’t really matter, Sid doesn’t discriminate. All get a dose of “guess who’s boss” via the doggie vocals.

Okay - so I finally watched the The Simpsons Movie and loved it! Since I just couldn’t resist (it’s so immensely clever), I recreated a scene.

Spider Pug, Spider Pug. Does whatever a spider pug does.

Can he swing from a web? No he can’t. He’s a pug.

Look out! He’s a Spider Pug.

I nominate the Simpsons Movie for most awesome original score in a film ever.

Mission complete! As indicated earlier, Sid’s fez cap has finally arrived. And when you put it on him, he ~~shakes his head to remove it~~ loves to wear it! Because it makes him so ultra-swanky, of course.
