Dueling fiddles
Charlie Daniels was on the radio last night and thus inspired a little lyrical modification:
Maizie went to Minnesota, she was looking for a pug to steal.
She was in a bind 'cos she was way behind: she was willin' to make a deal.
When she came across this young pug sawin' on a fiddle and playin' it hot.
And Maizie jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Pug let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you play a pretty good fiddle, pug, but give this girl her due:
"I bet a bowl of ham against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The pug said: "My name is Sid and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been."Sid Pug you rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard.
'Cos hells broke loose in 'sota and Maizie deals it hard.
And if you win you get this ham bowl made of gold.
But if you lose, Maizie gets your soul.Maizie opened up her case and she said: "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from her fingertips as she resined up her bow.
And she pulled the bow across her strings and it made an evil hiss.
Then a band of Barbies joined in and it sounded something like this.
When Maizie finished, Sid Pug said: "Well you're pretty good ol' girl.
"But if you'll sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done."Howl at the moon, run pugs, run.
Maizie's in the dog house havin' fun.
Chicken in the ham bowl, pickin' out dough.
"Luis, does your pug bite?"
"No, child, no."Maizie bowed her head because she knew that she'd been beat.
She laid that bowl of ham on the ground at Sid Pug's feet.
Sid then said: "Maizie just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"I told you once, you wielder of ham, I'm the best that's ever been."And he played fire on the mount, run pugs, run.
Maizie's in the dog house havin' fun.
