Rubber Johnny

I love this. I first saw this short three or four years ago, and now it’s on DVD. :) It’s so reminiscent of David Lynch’s Eraserhead. It’s made by Chris Cunningham who’s done a couple of Björk videos. I want this on my big screen now! Why doesn’t Netflix have it?

Rubber Johnny is a 6 minute experimental short film and music video directed by Chris Cunningham in 2005, using music composed by Aphex Twin.

The concept for Rubber Johnny came from Cunningham imagining a raver morphing as he danced. The idea evolved to the present film, in which Johnny (played by Cunningham) is an isolated mutant child with a huge overgrown cranium, strapped into a wheelchair and locked in a basement. Capable of morphing his body, he spends his life trying to amuse himself and his dog, a terrified chihuahua.

Diablo Cody on Letterman

Our favorite not-local-anymore girl was on Letterman again last Tuesday. Did you catch it? Well, I didn’t (no TV), so here it is from youtube:

Always on her game and ready for whatever Dave dishes out. Best line:

Diablo: Phone sex is great training for a screenwriter, because you’re having to try on all these different characters and I mean like — one day you’re a submissive red-head, the next day a German amputee.

Now we only have to await Jennifer’s Body starring Transformer’s Megan Fox. Can’t wait — although I guess I’ll have to for a year or so. Filming begins soon.
